Hello everyone, This is Brian. Patrick and I flew down from Atlanta this morning and had a good shock of 80+ degree weather and high humidity here in Ft Lauderdale. We had a fun lunch with Neil and Janet at Jimbo's Sandbar which overlooks the ICW with broad covered patios. Just the right relaxing way to start a trip and acclimate. Janet flew back to Kingsport where the temps are in the 30s. She turned the galley over to us and I distinctly heard her say we can drink all the wine on board we want although I doubt she really meant it. We'll all reconvene in the Abacos when she returns. It looks like we won't cross the Gulf Stream until Tuesday so we just did some light provisioning and maintenance today. Neil put his trust and life in our hands as we winched him up the mast to install the radar reflector and fix the flag halyard. Luckily all went well and Salty was only a little worried for a short time when he wasn't chasing the neighbor dogs at the tiki hut bar across the way.
Here are a few pictures if the lovely sunset (a good sign, sailor's delight) and the Dozen pelicans that have decided to roost on the $500k 50 ft beautiful sailboat in the slip next door.
Sunday we return the rental car and try stretching Midnight Sun's sea legs by heading offshore to sail down to Dinner Key and hopefully meet some friends in Coconut Grove.
