Jupiter Inlet, February 1

How time flies!  I thought we would have a lot of spare time sailing but I can attest that is not the case!  Things generally take twice as long as expected, and there's always a hundred jobs to be done.

We made a fairly early start today, waiting for the fog to lift at about 8:30 am we left Harbortown at Ft. Pierce.   There was a light wind on our nose which steadily built to around 18 knots.   Given this, we motored south in the ICW.   Things were very relaxing until we got to the south end of Hobe Sound. At that point the quiet ICW. Suddenly resembled Interstate 285 in rush hour. Fellow Atlantans will relate immediately!

We found a place to tie up at Jib Yacht club near Ft Pierce inlet. Turning into the marina was like crossing the median of I-285. We had to make hand signals to stop other boaters cutting us off.

Fortunately it's now a different story. We just cooked out and essentially have the place to ourselves. Sitting here listening to Dire Straits

  1. Sounds like things are going very well for you! You picked a great time to be away from Atanta.. and Chattanooga.. and most everywhere else. What a week! Be safe!

  2. Neil, Was very surprised to hear about you big adventure! I was out of the loop and didn't know the Midnight Sun II had left Lake Lanier until Leanne got an email from you! I'm sure you've heard about "Snow Crawl Atlanta" by now! I got stuck, and spent 8 hours getting from Marietta to Powder Springs, 8 miles! But that was better than Brent, He stayed at Georgia Tech two nights because he couldn't get through all the blocked roads. Enough about the "frigid North" hope it gets sunny and warm in FLA!
