Introduction - Midnight Sun II

Hello!

Midnight Sun II - Lake Lanier

Welcome to our Blog.  I must admit, we have never done a blog before, so this is something of an experiment to say the least.  We are about to set off on a journey that may be short by many standards, but we hope will be the start of a new adventure for us.  We are going to be sailing our boat - a 1997 Hunter 42 Passage, starting out in early January from Brunswick Georgia.

At this point in time, our plans are somewhat flexible as to where the journey will take us and exactly how long it will take.  But tentatively, we are looking at a 4 month trip.  Our plan is to essentially circumnavigate Florida, make a side trip to the Bahamas, return to the US via the Florida Keys, and then head north up the Tennessee River system (entering at Mobile, AL) towards Chattanooga, TN.  For anyone familiar with this route, it is essentially the bottom half of the popular route known as the Great Loop.  For more information on the route, see www.greatloop.org.  There are many good resources on this website and we have already joined America's Great Loop Cruisers Association.

As we make preparations to haul the boat and transport it  - now less than 6 weeks away, we will try to provide updates and we hope keep a good catalog of photos and videos of our journey.  We hope you will follow our progress and encourage us along on our little adventure.
